This video highlights the work of women peace activists who participated in ICAN’s “Negotiating a Better Peace” symposium in June, 2014. The Symposium was a gathering for representatives from civil society, governments, international organizations (UN and other multilateral organizations) and academia to move beyond the question of ‘why’ inclusivity matters, to ‘how’ it is being practiced, with attention to effective strategies and ongoing challenges in recent and ongoing cases (Syria, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Philippines, South Sudan and Colombia). The diverse list of attendees allowed for information and experience sharing amongst peace process actors who do not often get a chance to connect.
