We are excited to yet again share an animation in multiple languages! This time we are launching Gender Responsive Ceasefires: Why it matters, how to do it in Arabic, French and Spanish!
The fifth animation in our Better Peace Initiative (BPI) series explores why gender responsiveness and inclusivity matter in ceasefire agreements and processes, and how to ensure this in practice. For ceasefire agreements to succeed, there must be public buy-in. Including civil society (particularly women) and other local actors in the process from the beginning is hugely important. Ceasefire negotiations and agreements must be inclusive!
The materials and products we develop through the BPI are adaptable to local contexts while ensuring that core principles and values necessary to guarantee an inclusive process are considered. The translation of the animations and other materials we produce are based on demand from our partners in the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL) and others. We also welcome translation requests as well as suggestions for thematic topics to tackle.

We are grateful to Global Affairs Canada, the Compton Foundation, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UNDP for supporting the Better Peace Initiative!
