The Corporación de Investigación y Acción Social y Económica (CIASE) launched the She Builds Peace campaign in four regions of Colombia in October 2020. The breakfast events, which happened simultaneously in Bogotá, Villa de Leyva—Boyacá, Medellín, and Palmira—Valle del Cauca, aimed to raise awareness of the campaign and the need to recognize, protect, and fund women peacebuilders. The four events were linked through zoom to connect peacebuilders across Colombia.
During the launches, CIASE shared self-care exercises and participants used art to portray what it means to be a peacebuilder in everyday life. They recorded a video of what it means to be a peacebuilder and what others can do to contribute. The women peacebuilders shared their different experiences and learned that being a peacebuilder can mean different things and actions, but they share a common interest towards conflict transformation and wellbeing.
To raise awareness of the campaign launch in Colombia, CIASE developed videos and images and ran an online teaser campaign prior to the simultaneous events. They also organized a virtual launch with key actors in Colombia. Finally, CIASE translated the campaign logo into Spanish and put it on scarves, face masks, and sweaters. When the participants wear them in their communities, the merchandise starts conversations and helps raise awareness of women peacebuilders within the community.
