10:00 am: Wai Wai Nu at How Faith-based Peacebuilding Organizations are Navigating the Rise of Nationalism (AFP & ICRD)April 20, 2022 – ![]() 10:00 - 11:30 (ET) / 15:00 - 16:30 (BST) Recent years have seen an increase in influence of leaders, parties, and discourses that promote exclusionary nationalism. This growing influence can be seen manifested in the success of Marie Le Pen in the recent elections in France, the "America First" policies promoted by the former US president Donald Trump, the military coup in Myanmar. This rise of nationalism has had an impact on faith-based peacebuilding organizations and their efforts to build solidarity, and social cohesion, and promote pluralism, diversity, and social justice. In this webinar, we will hear from practitioners about how they are navigating the rise of exclusionary nationalism. We will learn about the strategies they are using to continue to promote inclusion, pluralism and solidarity during a challenging era. Speakers will include: |

1:00 pm: Muna Luqman at Seat at the Table: A Devex Dish Event (Devex)April 25, 2022 – ![]() 13:00 - 17:00 (ET) / 19:00 - 23:00 (CET) Join Devex on Monday, April 25, for a live broadcast of Seat at the table: A Devex Dish event. This event will feature a series of conversations with policymakers, funders, corporate execs, and civil society leaders on the actions necessary to transform the global food system and to combat hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity around the world. These discussions come at a time when the topic of food systems reform is more pressing than ever. Global hunger numbers — which had already been moving in the wrong direction — are skyrocketing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and exacerbated by climate change and conflict. How exactly will financial commitments materialize, and what mechanisms are in place to track performance and success? What data is needed to provide successful, sustained progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 2 of ending hunger? How can the world take advantage of the opportunity to "build back better" after the pandemic to ensure food system transformation? We’ll discuss these questions and more as we explore the role of finance, technology, and policy in global food systems solutions. Conversations will center on the following themes: • The role of foreign policy in the fight against global malnutrition. |
