GSX Thematic Working Group
“Security Interventions, Gender and Violent Extremism”

This working group focuses on security interventions, considering their role in aggravating or alleviating grievances that often serve as push factors in the radicalization of individuals and communities.
In February 2017, the first working group meeting was held in London, co-hosted with the Royal United Services institute (RUSI) and it comprised participants from relevant government, multilateral, and civil society organizations based on their sectoral expertise, and roles and responsibilities vis-à-vis the security sector and PVE issues discussed.
The meeting report was launched at the annual high-level UNGA GSX meeting on September 21st, 2017
