Security Reimagined, the 2026 ICAN Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Forum offers a powerful alternative to the dominant global security discourse. Led by women and unapologetically grounded in lived experience, the Forum flips the script on traditional elite security gatherings by placing civil society—especially women peacebuilders—at the center.
From more than 40 conflict- and crisis-affected countries, members of the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL) convene alongside policymakers and international actors to assess rising threats, deepen solidarity, and strategize collective action. The emphasis is not only on analysis, but on solutions—the strategies women, youth, and civil society leaders are already advancing on the frontlines.
Sessions are designed for depth, honesty, care, inspiration, and action. Anchored in nonviolence, equality, pluralism, justice, and accountability, the Forum advances urgent imperatives for a world in transition.
In honor of the 80th anniversary of the International Court of Justice, the 2026 Forum will convene in The Hague—hosted by the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Municipality of The Hague, and Wo=Men.
At a time when fear is loud and pessimism fashionable, this gathering insists on something different: that security can mean safety, care, dignity, and shared responsibility—and that the future of peace depends on those bold enough to reimagine it.
