June 2024  – Tirana, Albania

At a time when militarization is growing unchecked and increasingly normalized as the only approach to security, the ICAN Forum brings an alternative perspective into the global discourse from those who do not have the privilege of pessimism. ICAN’s 10th Forum will be hosted by the Women’s Center for Development and Culture Albania (WCDCA), bringing together women peacebuilders from over 40 countries in the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL) in Tirana, Albania from June 2-5, 2024.

Supporters of the 10th ICAN Women, Peace, and Security Forum include the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), and the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF).

“[The Forum] is the place where we can think strategically without neglecting the day-to-day of our struggles. It is the place where we can position ourselves as political actors for peace.”

– Rosa Emilia Salamanca, Colombia

Ride for Peace

As a part of the 10th ICAN Women, Peace, and Security Forum, we’re bringing together women peacebuilders from the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership, local cycling advocates, women’s groups, the chair of the municipal council and others for a Ride for Peace.

Special Session with the Albanian Parliament

Convened the premises of the Albanian Parliament, this special session of the ICAN Forum is particularly significant, reflecting the ongoing commitment of Albanian institutions to advancing the WPS agenda at a time when security challenges are more complex than ever. The discussions will examine the dynamics of international responsibility, the achievements and potential of the WPS agenda, and strengthen our global-local cooperation as peace actors in these critical times.
