Historically, the exclusion of women from peace negotiations has been detrimental to the promotion and protection of women’s human rights. In an effort to combat this in Syria and in advance of the peace talks in Geneva this June, the International Civil Society Action Network has partnered with the NGOs listed below to urge foreign affairs ministers and high officials to include Syrian women in all forthcoming mediations and negotiations. It is our hope that by working collectively with international leadership we can not only include Syrian women in all mediation and negotiation of conflict meetings, but also provide Syrian women with the tools they need to fully participate in the peace process.
