About the Organization

The Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF) is an organization that envisions a Yemen in which young women and men can take on leadership roles in all areas of society and contribute to a better world.

Established in 1998, the YLDF works to enhance youth employability, support economic empowerment and livelihoods, and strengthens youth’s capacities to participate in community development. YLDF encourages and promotes women’s inclusion in political and peacebuilding processes through advocacy, as well as strengthening youth’s capacity to apply gender sensitive peacebuilding strategies in their communities.

YLDF’s efforts also focus on building resilient communities, supporting the delivery of humanitarian aid, and addressing gender-based violence in conflict and crises.

ICAN’s Innovative Peace Fund has supported YLDF since 2018.

Core Areas of Work:

Stories & Features

Our traditions accept women in leadership. We try to use an Islamic approach in training gender, in mainstreaming gender. Justice and equality are presented in the Qur’an. It’s not a Western idea, it came over 1,000 years ago from our own Islamic culture.
