Across Syria, communities are finding ways to reconnect after years of war through dialogue, storytelling, art, and collective action. Mobaderoon’s Local Peace Committees demonstrate why lasting peace begins within communities themselves.
The International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), together with Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), Kvinna till Kvinna, Permanent Missions of Bangladesh, Ireland and Sweden to the United Nations, UN Women, the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action (WPS-HA) Compact cordially invite you to a high-level hybrid roundtable on Innovative Solutions for Feminist Financing for Peacebuilding, to take place on 26 April 2022 at 1:15-2:45pm EDT as part of discussions surrounding the High-Level Meeting on Financing for Peacebuilding.
The high-level roundtable will provide an opportunity for the Member States, multilateral partners, private sector, and civil society to identify concrete actions needed for more inclusive, impactful and fit-for-purpose financing in the follow-up of the High-Level Meeting. Specifically, the participants are invited to share how the institutions they represent can commit to enhancing current financing mechanisms by drawing upon some of the recommendations from the “Feminist Solutions for more Impactful Financing for Peacebuilding” paper. Furthermore, the participants are welcome to reflect on the possibility of ensuring that such efforts take into consideration principles of quality financing and are implemented to ensure the highest possible impact at the country level.
About the Roundtable:
This roundtable is a hybrid event. Limited seats are available at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations located at 1 Dag Hammarskjold Plaza #46, New York, NY 10017. Participation is also available Via Zoom Online Platform at: https://bit.ly/Feminist-Financing.
The roundtable will be recorded and live-streamed via YouTube. A short summary note with no attribution will be available for the participants following the discussion.

On October 6, 2025, the U.N. Security Council holds its annual open debate on Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. Today, we are not issuing a new statement. Instead, we are honoring our community of women peacebuilders—who appeared before the Security Council throughout these 25 years, speaking for the millions they represent—by echoing their messages.

In a powerful departure from traditional advocacy, ICAN—guided by our Afghan partners and women peacebuilders—hosted the event “Watan e Ma – وطن ما – Our Homeland: Women of Afghanistan Keeping the Flame of Freedom Alive” on March 17, 2025 at Blue Gallery in New York City. Held during the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), the event celebrated Afghan cultural heritage and the resilience of Afghan women peacebuilders, who persist in their leadership for peace, justice, and equality under the Taliban’s regime of gender apartheid.
