ICAN is pleased to share the summary of key findings of a four-year independent evaluation (December 2018 – December 2022) conducted by Merits Partnership on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The methodology included document review and 30 key informant interviews, including individual and group interviews with ICAN staff, board members, funders, peer organizations and WASL partners. In addition, they included mini-case studies with select WASL members and grant recipients to better understand the impact of ICAN’s holistic support. The final evaluation assessed ICAN’s relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability.

This summary highlights ICAN’s added value to local women-led peacebuilding organizations, international organizations including funders, as well as to the wider Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) agendas.

We take this opportunity to thank all who gave their time and wisdom. We also thank the Norwegian MFA for providing this opportunity to learn about the impact and value of our work.
