Young Leaders Entrepreneurs

The Young Leaders Entrepreneurs launched the She Builds Peace campaign in Tunisia with a virtual hackathon for youth to advance women’s roles in peace processes. The launch took place over the course of two months, during which the participants attended an online workshop on UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, institutionalized policies, and its limitations on the ground. The youth were then split into several teams to develop proposals on ways to implement the WPS agenda on the ground. The projects were then voted on by the public, and the three winning teams were given small stipends as seed funding to scale up their projects.

The participants’ final projects addressed topics as diverse as LGBT+ community peace efforts, support for survivors of gender-based violence, technical assistance and mental health advocacy for women in remote or marginalized areas, and economic resilience for women entrepreneurs and artisans. All of the teams received support to help promote their ideas online, garnering recognition and potential funding from external donors.

“All participants received two kind of certificates to acknowledge their participation in the initial online training on Women Peace and Security and their commitment during the hackathon process.” – Young Leaders Entrepreneurs Campaign Report
